As a key component of RISEx 2026, there will be workshops and tutorials. These workshops and tutorials will offer conference attendees opportunities to learn and gain hands-on experience in robotics, artificial intelligence, and intelligent systems through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and laboratory activities across the University of Alberta campus.
We propose the following topics but we are not limited to these areas:
- AI for Robotics (tutorial (1.5h) and/or workshop (1.5h))
- Programming for Robotics (tutorial (1.5h) and/or workshop (1.5h))
- Sensing for Robotics applications (tutorial (1.5h) and/or workshop (1.5h))
- Medical and Healthcare Robotics (tutorial (1.5h) and/or workshop (1.5h))
- Panel discussion for Robotics, AI, and human-machine interfaces
These sessions aim to offer participants knowledge sharing and skill development opportunities with cutting-edge AI and robotics technologies, guided by expert researchers, such as yourselves, at the University of Alberta.
Ideally, attendees should be able to explore advanced techniques, tools, and methodologies while gaining practical skills and insights into the latest developments in the AI and Robotics field. This interactive environment should encourage collaboration and innovation, attraction of future researchers, providing graduate students with the opportunity to present their work, receive valuable feedback, and refine their research projects.
Each workshop or tutorial will be scheduled on either November 12 or 13 in the afternoon (approximately 90 minutes in length). If you are also interested in providing a tour of your robotics-related lab, please complete this brief form.
